At Fledglings we are proud to offer a vast array of facilities for the children and babies, with an emphasis on learning through play and the outdoors.
At Fledglings you will find:
Gardens and Outdoor Play
Fledglings Nursery sits within the old stable block of the historic Ashlyns Hall. The children have the benefit of extended outdoor play areas as well as having access to the 13 acres of private parkland surrounding Ashlyns Hall.
Baby Unit
Fledglings Nursery has a dedicated baby unit for children from 6 months to 2 years, with a separate room for sleep. Parents and carers have their own entrance, with easy access to car park areas.
Sleep Rooms
Fledglings Nursery provides separated, cosy, sleep rooms for children. Children do not sleep in the same room in which they play and learn.
Outdoor Learning
Fledglings Nursery has two large gardens – one which is separate and designed for the babies, and the other for the Gosling and Cygnet children. Each garden has plenty of age-appropriate toys, climbing equipment, sand and water trays, bikes, push along toys and a mixture of safety surface and grass. We also have a large, outdoor classroom where staff set up activities so all children can have access to learning and play year-round, in all weathers.
Dining
All meals are included in the fees, and we were recently inspected by Hertfordshire County Council, receiving the highest possible rating, 5* rating in the Food Standards Agency Inspection Report.
We are now working in partnership with Nursery Kitchen, who provide a wide range of fresh, tasty and nutritious meals to nurseries.
They use a nutritionist to ensure that all the meals meet the government’s targets for children (e.g. 30 plant points per week). They also offer a wide range of cuisines from British classics such as roast chicken and swish fish pie, to Indian favourites such as chana masala, pea and paneer curry. We use them for lunch and tea, and we offer cereal, toast and fruit for breakfast. Our afternoon snack consists of fruit or crudités
